Special UN envoy for Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, says access to education is a fundamental right that should be protected worldwide. Joining the hashtag “FreedomEducationEducationForAll” on Friday (April 19) on the social media platform, Bennett wrote that the collapse of the education system and the prohibition of access to it should not be tolerated. This comes as, since regaining control over Afghanistan, the Taliban have closed the doors of secondary schools, high schools, and universities to Afghan girls and women for over two years.
