The Purple Saturdays movement calls on all sections of the society not to stay silent and raise their voice against the oppression of the Taliban rule.

On the eve of three years of Taliban rule, women protesters in the “Purple Saturdays Movement” in a statement on Sunday, August 11, by launching the “We will not stay silent” campaign, call on all sections of the society to raise their voice against the oppression, cruelty and terrorist activities of the Taliban.

In a part of the declaration of these protesting women, it is stated:

“We call on all protest movements, political and civil activists, cultural and artistic figures, athletes, youth and the elite and educated class of Afghanistan to increase pressure and stop immediately by holding mass protests. Supporting, ransoming and keeping the Taliban in power should be discussed under the title of interaction.”

According to this protest movement, the Taliban should be held accountable for war crimes, targeted killings of soldiers and employees of the previous government, forced migration and widespread violations of the basic rights of Afghan citizens and sexual assault on women in the past three years.

They added:

“The self-proclaimed government of the Taliban, contrary to all their commitments to the international community, not only did not cut off their relations with other terrorist groups, but by strengthening these relations, they turned Afghanistan into a “safe house” for international terrorists, and with each passing day They bring the country one step closer to the potential threat and big trouble for the region and the world.”

After the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan on August 15, 2021, they deprived women and girls of all their basic rights, and the bans imposed severe restrictions on various parts of women’s lives.
