The Institute for Strengthening the Welfare of Women and Children of Afghanistan wrote an open letter to Rosemary DiCarlo, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, who is to lead the third round of the Doha Summit.

In this letter, DiCarlo is asked to ensure the presence of real representatives of Afghan women and transparency in this vital dialogue.

A part of this open letter states: “The international community is looking to your leadership to ensure that these negotiations do not jeopardize the hard-won freedoms and rights of Afghan women.”

Ensuring transparency and refraining from whitewashing the Taliban in the third round of the Doha meeting is one of the other demands of the protesting women, which is emphasized in this open letter.

“Transparency in these conversations is very important. “This transparency not only builds trust, but also ensures that the Afghan people, especially women, are informed and can hold all parties accountable. We also ask you to refrain from any whitewashing that may favor the Taliban.”

This is while, according to knowledgeable sources, the upcoming Doha meeting will be hosted and led by Rosemary DiCarlo, the United Nations Deputy Secretary General for Political and Peace Affairs. A meeting that many have called a deal with terrorism due to the presence of the Taliban and the exclusion of women, and have called for its boycott.
