TEHRAN_Iran’s special representative for Afghanistan says that Afghanistan needs an “inclusive government with good people” to get out of the current crisis
In a press conference after the “Regional Contact Group” meeting in Tehran, Kazemi Qomi said that recommendations to the caretaker government do not mean intervention.
He added: “We had the experience of Bonn in Afghanistan in the past. The Bonn summit could not act in a way that would provide a path to stability in Afghanistan. Now, if Afghanistan wants to find a way out of the crisis, the political sphere must be able to form a government that to create competent people from different walks of life”
This Iranian official said that the agendas of the first and second Doha meetings were not clear, and he hoped that the third Doha meeting would deal with basic issues that would help improve the situation in Afghanistan.
Qomi said: “The United Nations is currently present in Afghanistan, it should be clear what concerns the appointment of a special representative by the United Nations in Afghanistan is supposed to solve.”
