Hengaw, a human rights organization, announced on Thursday, December 26, that approximately 71 Afghan citizens have been executed in Iran this year for various reasons.
The organization stated that the most recent execution took place on Wednesday, December 25, at Adelabad Central Prison in Shiraz, Iran. According to the report, the Afghan individual executed was named Katib Seydnian, who was convicted of intentional murder.
Human rights organizations and advocates have expressed concerns about the fairness of judicial processes in Iran, noting that defendants often lack access to defense attorneys, and their cases are not handled impartially.
